Neuro Recovery Institute was founded by a team of addiction medicine physicians, neurologists, and recovery specialists who recognized a critical gap in opioid detoxification. While medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with methadone and buprenorphine saves lives, it is not the right choice for every patient. Many individuals face barriers to MAT — whether philosophical, medical, or logistical — and others simply aspire to be completely free from all opioids, including maintenance medications.
In 2023, we began investigating transcutaneous auricular neurostimulation (tAN) as an alternative pathway. The science was compelling: stimulating the auricular branch of the vagus nerve and the auriculotemporal branch of the trigeminal nerve could activate endogenous opioid and dopamine release, mimicking the pharmacologic effect of external opioids without the addiction potential.
With the publication of landmark clinical trials and FDA clearance of multiple next-generation devices, we are soon to be opening our doors as one of the first dedicated neurostimulation detoxification centers in the United States.

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. We honor each patient's goals, whether that's transitioning to naltrexone, entering residential treatment, or building a medication-free recovery plan.
We continuously evaluate emerging neurostimulation modalities, wearable devices, and digital therapeutics to improve outcomes and accessibility.
We are working tirelessly to make sure we can accept most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare, and we intend to offer sliding-scale fees if financially feasible.
